I can’t believe I’m leaving so soon. By tomorrow night, I will have left New York behind. When Katie called me this afternoon, I still had loads of packing to do. She convinced me to come over anyway for a glass of wine and to say goodbye.

Belle: But if I come tonight, I won’t have finished packing by tomorrow!
Katie: I’ll come over afterwards and help you. It’s our last chance to see you for a while. I even baked a cake for you.

未来完了形
Day16では、will+完了形を伴った未来の表現を紹介します。Day12でも触れたように、完了形のhave+過去分詞は、ある時点に立った上で、それ以前から何かが迫ってくる感覚を持っていました。この感覚に助動詞willを伴うと、未来のある時点までには「～してしまっているだろう」と言いあらわすことができるのです。もちろん、現在完了と同じように「継続、経験、完了、結果」を意味する未来の表現を作り出すことができます。willをhave+過去分詞の前に置くだけです。
・PJ4 – Day 12: 助動詞 + have + 過去分詞
未来のある時点をはっきりさせるために、それを意味する語句を伴うことが多く、例えば「by」を使ってby the time～「～の時まで」やby 25th「25日まで」等置きます。
by ～（～までには）、by the time～…（～するまでには）

[継続] 例1：I will have lived here for 20 years by next month.
（来月でここに２０年住んでいることになる。）
[経験] 例2：If you go to TDL again, you will have been there 100 times.
（もしまたTDLに行ったら、君は100回行ったことになる。）
[完了] 例3：By the time I come home, my mother will have cooked dinner.
（私が帰るまでにはお母さんが夕食を作り終えているだろう。）
[結果] 例4：If you play games, you will have failed the exam.
（もしゲームをしたら、君は試験に落ちるだろう。）
なお、「もうずーっと～している」と、動作が連続していることを表現したい場合、現在完了形が進行形と合わさった現在完了進行形を用いることは、PJ3のDay16で学びました。では、それが未来のある時点まで「ずーっと～している」と言いたい場合はどうでしょう？これもwillを使えば大丈夫。「will+have+been+動詞のing」であらわすことができます。ただし、口語ではあまり使いません。
