時間を表すコツ
Day14では、時間の聞き方、また、答え方のコツをまとめています。
時間を聞く際にもっとも有名な文章は、What time is it?ですよね。最近、とある英語教材の広告でWhat time is it?は使わない、という文章を見ましたが、普通に使えますので(笑)ご安心下さい。
それに対する受け答えとしては、It is ten o’clock.(10時です)といった受け答えになります。特に日本人があまり慣れてないhalf past(30分過ぎ)、quarter to(15分前)といった表現は覚えておくとよいでしょう。
ちなみに、What time is it?は身近な人には使いますが、通りがかりの人に時間を聞くときなどは、Excuse me, do you have the time? がよく使われますよ。
