Hi everyone! My name is Judith. I am from Scotland, and I am a new Lesson
Partner at B. I have only given a few lessons so far but I have enjoyed
every one of them and I am looking forward to meeting many more members!
みんな初めまして！ジュディです。スコットランド出身の新しいレッスンパートナーよ。
まだそんなに多くのレッスンはやっていないけど、どのレッスンもとても楽しくて、
早くもっと多くのみんなに会いたいって思ってるの！


I decided to come to Japan when I was still at university and wondering
what to do when I graduated. My mother is Japanese and I had visited Japan
three or four times as a child. However the last time I had been was when I
was 12 years old, so I hadn`t seen my Japanese relatives in a long time! I
also really wanted to see more of Japan. When I visited as a child we
stayed at my grandmother`s house in Saga, Kyushu, so I had never been to
Honshu, let alone Tokyo! I wanted to see the big cities but also the
countryside.
私が日本に来ることを決めたのは、私がまだ大学に通っていて、卒業したら
何をすればいいのか悩んでいた時だったわ。私の母は日本人だから、子供の頃に
日本には3,4回くらい来た事があったんだけど、でも最後に来たのは12歳の時だったの。
日本の親戚にも長い間会ってなかったわ！
日本をもっと見てみたいとも思ったの。子供の頃に日本に来たときはいつも
佐賀県の祖母の家に泊まっていたの。だから東京はもちろん、日本の本州には
行ったことがなかったのよ！日本の大きな都市を見てみたかったし、田舎にも行ってみたかった。


However, overwhelmingly, my motivation for coming to Japan was
to learn Japanese. I had always regretted the fact that despite being
half-Japanese I could not speak the language and I am determined to one
day at least be able to carry a conversation comfortably in Japanese!
でも何よりも日本語を勉強したい！っていうのが私が日本に来たかった一番の理由ね。
半分は日本人の血が流れているのに、日本語が話せないことをいつもすっごく
後悔していたの。そして、いつか絶対に日本語で会話ができるようになってやる！
って決心したの。


So, I graduated from university and then worked for a year to save the
money to come to Japan. I finally arrived in Japan in November last year. I
spent the first 2 months in Fukuoka attending an intensive language course.
After that I spent about 3 months travelling and doing voluntary work on
organic farms at various locations around Kyushu and Okinawa. I stayed with
5 different Japanese families for a few weeks each and I had an amazing
time! The people I met were so hospitable, kind and generous, and I got to
see some of the beautiful Japanese countryside. I particularly liked Aso!
After that I made my way up towards Tokyo.
大学を卒業してから日本へ来る為の資金集めのために1年働いて、昨年の11月に
やっと日本へ来れたの！最初の2ヶ月間は福岡で日本語の集中講座を受けたわ。
そして、その後3ヶ月間はオーガニックの農場でボランティア活動をしながら
九州や沖縄を旅行したの。その間、1,2週間ずつ、日本人の家庭にホームステイを
したのよ！本当に素敵な時間だった！
出逢った人みんなとっても温かくて優しかったわ。ずっと見てみたかった
日本の美しい田園地方も見ることができた！中でも阿蘇は私のお気に入りの場所！
こんな風に日本での最初の半年間を過ごした後、東京へ来たの。


Initially, I was only intending on staying in Japan for one year. However,
I was enjoying being here so much that I decided to find a job and stay
here for another year at least. So here I am! It`s been really easy
settling in to life in Japan. Everything is so convenient, the people are
so friendly, and the food is like no other food on earth!
初めは日本にいるのは一年くらいの予定だったんだけど、日本がとっても好きになって、
日本で仕事を見つけて、少なくてもあと一年は日本にいようって決めたの。
そして、今の私に至っているの！
日本ではなにもかも便利で、人々はフレンドリーだし、食べ物は地球上で一番って
言ってもいいほどおいしいし、日本に住むことは私にとってそんなに大変なことでは
ないのよ。思いっきり楽しんでるわ！
