Last Halloween in London was one for the books.
In a city as lively and multicultural as London, Halloween brings out a special kind of energy.
I have friends from all overs the world (America, France, Spain etc…) and we all decided to celebrate Halloween by carving pumpkins and throwing a small get-together, and it turned into one of the most fun and creative nights I’ve ever had.
昨年のロンドンのハロウィンは本当に思い出に残るものだったわ。
ロンドンのように多くの文化や人種が混ざり合っている街では、ハロウィンのようなイベントがあるとひときわ盛り上がります。
アメリカ、フランス、スペインなど、世界中から集まった友達と一緒に、パンプキンカービングをしたり、小さなパーティーを開くことにしたの。それが、今までで一番楽しくてクリエイティブな夜になったんです！

We kicked off the evening by gathering around a table piled high with pumpkins, ready to dive into the carving process.
I’ll admit, some of us were more confident with a carving knife than others, but that just made it all the more fun.
We laughed over the mess we were making, scooping out pumpkin seeds (which we later roasted for snacks) and discussing what designs we were going for—everything from spooky faces to more abstract art pieces.
まずはテーブルいっぱいに積み上げられたパンプキンを囲んでスタート。カービングの準備は万端でした！
正直なところ、ナイフの扱いが上手な人とそうでない人がいましたが、それが逆にすごく面白くて。
パンプキンの種を取り出すのに大騒ぎしながら大笑いして（あとで焼いておやつにしました）、どんなデザインにするかを話し合ったんだけど、不気味な顔から抽象的なアートまで、いろんなアイデアが出たわ。

One of the best parts of the night was the range of creativity on display.
We set up a mini “competition,” though it was mostly just for laughs.
Some pumpkins turned out to be real masterpieces, while others… well, let’s just say they had a charm of their own.
The mix of beautifully carved designs and funny pumpkin “fails” made the final lineup even more memorable.
他にはない独特なアイデアがたくさん生まれて、最高の夜だったわ。
ちょっとした「コンペ」を開催したけれど、まぁ笑えたわ。
本当に素敵な作品もあったけど、中には…そうね、どれも個性的だったということにしておくわ。
パンプキンは美しく彫られたものとユーモラスなの「失敗作」の両方があって、なおさら思い出深いものになりました。

Our Halloween Table Once the carving was done, we cleaned up and transformed the table into a spooky masterpiece.
We decorated with skeletons and more pumpkins making it the perfect Halloween atmosphere.
It was great to see how the living room could be transformed into a festive setting with just a few decorations.
Food, drinks and snacks were delicious and we all enjoyed the experience and atmosphere. ：ハロウィンのカービングが終わったら、後片付けをしてテーブルを薄気味悪い感じに飾り付けたの。
ガイコツやパンプキンを飾り、しっかりハロウィンの雰囲気になったわ。
ほんの少しの飾り付けでリビングルームがお祭りのような雰囲気に変わっていいわよね。
料理も飲み物もスナックも美味しくて、みんなでこの楽しい時間と雰囲気を楽しみました。

Did you know that one of the most famous Halloween symbols, the jack-o’-lantern, was inspired by an old Irish legend?
The story goes that a man named Stingy Jack tricked the devil multiple times and, as a result, was doomed to wander the Earth with only a hollowed-out turnip and a burning coal inside to light his way. When Irish immigrants brought the tradition to America, pumpkins became the more popular choice for carving due to their size. It’s fun to think that something we carved for fun had such spooky origins!
ハロウィンと言えば、ジャック・オー・ランタンが有名だけど、実はアイルランドの古い伝説に由来していることをご存知ですか？
伝説によると、Stingy Jack（ケチなジャック）という男が何度も悪魔を騙した結果、罰としてくりぬいたカブとその中の燃える石炭だけを持って地上をさまよい続ける運命を背負うことになりました。
アイルランドの移民たちがこの伝統をアメリカに持ち込んだとき、パンプキンの方がサイズ的に彫りやすいことから、パンプキンが主流になったのです。
私たちが楽しんで彫っているものが、実はこんなに不気味な由来を持っているなんて、考えると面白いですよね！

Ending the Night with a Halloween Classic After admiring our pumpkin creations, we wound down the night with some classic Halloween movies. There’s something comforting about settling in with friends, surrounded by candles and pumpkins, and watching films that bring out both the spooky and fun side of the holiday.
みんなが作ったパンプキンの作品を眺めた後、クラッシックなハロウィン映画を観ながら夜を締めくくりました。
キャンドルとパンプキンに囲まれてくつろぎながら、友達と一緒にハロウィンの不気味な感じとワクワク感を味わえる映画をのんびり楽しみました。

Looking back, that Halloween was the perfect blend of creativity, fun, and a little bit of Halloween magic.
It’s one of those moments where you realise that celebrating with friends—whether you’re carving pumpkins, watching movies, or just enjoying each other’s company—makes the holiday feel truly special.
今思えば、あのハロウィンは、創造性と楽しさ、そして少しの「ハロウィン・マジック」が絶妙に組み合わさった特別な時間だったわ。
パンプキンカービングや映画を観たりすることだけでなく、友達と一緒に過ごす祝日こそが、本当の意味での特別な日なんだと実感できたひとときでした。
