For the past few weeks we have been planning a photo shoot. By ‘we’ I mean my sister and I.
My sister Helen lives in Belfast in Northern Ireland and we are working together to build our jewellery company.
The jewellery is inspired by the landscape and culture of Ireland and is made in Ireland, as well as in Japan.
With our HQ and my sister in Ireland, 8 hours behind Japan, you can see why I have panda-style dark circles under my eyes 🙂
ここ数週間、私たちは広告用の写真撮影会を計画しているの。’私たち’っていうのは、私と姉のことね。
私の姉のヘレンは北アイルランドのベルファストに住んでいて、私達はジュエリー会社を立ち上げる為に一緒に働いているの。
ジュエリーはアイルランドの景色や文化にインスパイアされ、日本だけでなくアイルランドで作られているのよ。
私達の拠点と姉は、日本と8時間時差のあるアイルランドにいるから、そう私の目の下のクマの理由がわかるわね。

So, we decided a few weeks ago to do a mini, casual photoshoot.
We hired a professional photographer, asked my partner’s photogenic sister to be a model and gave my sister the role of stylist/shopper.
After hours of searching on Pinterest.com for images, hours of phonecalls and a million emails (okay, I’m exaggerating a little here!), we finally decided on certain looks for each collection.
The image shows the look we want to create for the Fionn Collection, urban, modern and edgy with pattern and colour.
The difficulty is creating the right attitude for the photos and we were disappointed after several shopping trips when the clothes just didn’t suit the model.
Another factor to consider is location, we had to choose places that tell the right story for each collection.
Cue my sister the location scout!
Poor Helen has been given so many tasks to complete because I’m not there to take care of it myself, all I can do is use my laptop to research and guide her.
私たちは数週間前に、小さいカジュアルな写真撮影会をすることを決めたの。プロの写真家を雇って、私のパートナーの写真写りのいい妹さんにモデルになってもらい、姉にはスタイリストになってもらうわ。
イメージをPinterest.comで何時間も検索し、何時間もの電話と100万ものメールの後(ちょっと大げさね！)私達はついに、コレクション用のスタイルを決めたわ。
このイメージは、私たちがつくりたいFionnの都会的で現代的、流行の先端をいく柄とカラーのスタイルよ。
写真に対して正しい姿勢を持つことの難しさと、いくつもの買い物をしてその服がモデルに似合わなかった時はがっかりしたわ。
他の要因は、ロケーション。コレクションに合うストーリーを伝える場所を探さなきゃいけなかったの。姉にロケーションを探させなきゃ！
可哀想なヘレンはこの任務を任せられたのよ。なぜなら私はそこに居ないから、私にできることは、パソコンで場所を調べてガイドすることくらい。

Today is the day of the shoot so our research is complete, our jewellery polished and prepared and our model in the process of getting her make-up done by an MUA.
I’m gutted I can’t be there to take part in our little shoot but I trust my sister will do her best.
Fingers crossed that all the elements will come together and it will be a success.
Even if it doesn’t turn out exactly like I hope, it’s good experience for the next shoot which I’m sure will be bigger and better!

Oh no, I just heard it’s raining in Belfast. Doh!

今日は、まさに撮影日。準備は整い、私達のジュエリーは磨かれ、モデルはメイクアップアーティストによってメイク中よ。
その場に居なくて参加できなくてがっかりしているけど、でも姉が頑張ってくれると信じているわ。
全てがいい方向に進み、成功するよう願っている。思ったようにいかなくても、それはそれで次の撮影会へのいい経験になるし、規模も質も共に向上すると思ってる！

おっと、ベルファストから電話だわ！どうだったかは、また追って報告するわね。
