What’s the biggest jigsaw puzzle you’ve ever made?
Did you know jigsaw puzzles were originally made to help kids learn geography?
The first puzzles were actually maps!
And as for the name, they got it because, long ago, people used a special saw called a jigsaw to cut the pieces.
皆さんが今までで一番大きく作ったジグソーパズルは何かしら？
実は、ジグソーパズルってもともと子どもが地理を学ぶために作られたんですって。
最初のパズルは、なんと地図だったそうですよ！
それから、「ジグソー」という名前も、昔は「ジグソー」と呼ばれる専用のノコギリを使ってピースをカットしていたことに由来しているんです。

I’ve loved jigsaw puzzles since I was a kid.
I had three 100-piece animal puzzles and did them so many times I had them memorized!
But my favorite of all time was a Snow White puzzle my grandpa had.
I spent countless hours piecing it together with him, and to this day, it’s one of my most precious memories.
私は子どもの頃からジグソーパズルが大好きだったの。
100ピースの動物のパズルを3つ持っていて、何度もやりすぎて全部覚えちゃったくらい！
でも、一番のお気に入りは、祖父が持っていた白雪姫のパズル。
祖父と一緒に何時間もかけて組み立てた思い出は、今でも私の大切な宝物です。

As I grew older, I took on bigger challenges—200 pieces, 500 pieces, and eventually 1,000.
Most of them were peaceful landscapes, lighthouses, or cozy houses blending into the forest.
But when I moved to Japan, I had to leave my puzzles behind.
大人になるにつれて、200ピース、500ピース、そしてついに1,000ピースとどんどん難しいパズルに挑戦するようになったわ。
主にのどかな風景や灯台、森の中にひっそりと佇む可愛らしい家のパズルでした。
でも、日本に引っ越すときに、パズルは置いてこなきゃいけなくて…。

Luckily, last Christmas, my sister gifted me two Disney puzzles!
I finished the 500-piece one in just an afternoon, but since mid-January, I’ve been working on the 1,000-piece one.
I don’t have much time to work on it, but I’m this close to finishing.
Once I’m done, I might remake the 500-piece one just for fun!
そんな中、昨年のクリスマスに妹がディズニーのパズルを2つプレゼントしてくれました！
500ピースのほうは午後のひとときで完成しちゃったけど、1,000ピースのほうは1月中旬からコツコツ取り組んでいます。
なかなか時間が取れないけど、あともう少しで完成します。
終わったら、500ピースのほうをもう一回作って遊ぼうかしら！
