Taiwan is a country that has tasty food, amazing views, exciting experiences and people who warmly welcome Japanese travelers.
This country impressed the Portuguese who called it “Formosa” (beautiful island in English) when they first arrived there.
Taiwan also impressed me when I went to Taipei last year.
Everyday I had a great adventure. Here are some experiences that I had and recommend to you.
台湾は、美味しい料理、素晴らしい景色、ワクワクする経験そして日本人観光客を暖かく受け入れてくれる人々がいる国です。
台湾は、ポルトガルの方が初めて台湾を訪れた時に「フォルモサ（英語で美しい島）」と感銘を受けました。
僕が昨年台湾を訪れた時も同じように感じました。毎日が素晴らしい冒険の日々でした。
台湾で沢山の経験をし、皆さんにもオススメします。

1.Take the Hello Kitty plane operated by EVA Airlines, one of Taiwan’s big airline companies.
The plane is decorated with a giant colorful picture of Kitty chan and her friends.
The inside of the plane is like Hello Kitty heaven if you are a fan of the character.
The cat’s face appears on the plane seats, pillows, and on the flight attendants’ aprons (at meal time). Before take off, there’s a Hello Kitty animation video on the seat back TVs to help you relax.
At meal time, everything has kitty chan’s face including the cutlery and napkin.
Dessert is in kitty chan’s colors of white and black.
It is vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips.
The Hello Kitty experience finishes with seeing the Hello Kitty decorated airport gate at Taoyuan International Airport.
This flight must be very popular with Japanese and Taiwanese girls and women because there were not so many men on my plane.
１．台湾の大手航空会社の1つであるエバー航空が運航するハローキティー機に搭乗しました。
この飛行機はキティーとその仲間達の絵が大きくカラフルに描かれています。
もしキティーファンであれば、その飛行機の機内はキティー天国です。
機内の座席、枕、そして客室乗務員のエプロン（食事の時間）にキティー顔が現れます。
離陸後は寛いで頂けるように、シートバックのテレビでハローキティーのアニメーションが上映されます。
食事の時間では、カトラリーやナプキン全てのものにキティーの顔が付いています。
デザートはキティーカラーの白と黒で、バニラアイスクリームにチョコレートチップがトッピングされています。
ハローキティーとの旅も台湾桃園国際空港（たいわんとうえんこくさいくうこう）の搭乗ゲートに施されているキティ-が見えると終わりに近づいています。
僕の乗ったこの便にはほとんど男性が搭乗していなかったから、日本と台湾の女の子や女性にとても人気があるに違いありません。

2. Jiufen market and nature area.
Take a city bus from Taipei for an hour and you’ll reach the beautiful seaside area of Jiufen.
The market there sells traditional Taiwanese sweets, oohlong tea and hand-made.
Many of the shops have bilingual Japanese / Taiwanese signs.
I can’t read Taiwanese characters, so I sometimes read hiragana and katakana when I wanted to buy sweets or crafts I was surprised how useful my Japanese language skills were in Taiwan! Ha, Ha!
Walk to the end of the market and you can see amazing views of the sea because this market is located on a hill.
I recommend that you buy pineapple cake and high mountain oohlong tea. They’re great!　
２．九份（キュウフン）マーケットと自然エリアについて。
台北から市バスで一時間すると、九份という美しい海岸沿いに到着します。
そのマーケットでは、伝統的な台湾菓子、烏龍茶、ハンドメイド製品が売られています。
多くのお店では日本語と台湾語の二カ国語で表記されています。僕がお菓子や工芸品を買いたかった時、平仮名とカタカナをよく読み、僕の日本語のスキルが台湾で役にたった事に驚きました！！ハッ！ハッ！
マーケットの端まで歩くと、そのマーケットは丘の上に位置している為とても素晴らしい海の景色が見られます。
パイナップルケーキと高山烏龍茶を買うことをオススメします。とても素晴らしいです。

3. Taipei 101 Building. This is the 2nd tallest office tower in the world (only The Burj building in Dubai is taller).
Let the world’s fastest elevator (built by Hitachi) take you up to the 89th floor observatory in just 37 seconds.
Then, walk around and enjoy the views while the excellent audio guide teaches you about the building and views.
I spent almost an hour there taking photos and enjoying the views.
3．台北101
台北101は世界で2番目に高い建物です。（唯一、ドバイのブルジュ・ハリファが高いです。）
世界で最速のエレベーター（日立が建設した）が37秒間で89階の展望台まで連れていってくれます。
そして、周りを歩いたり、建物や景色について音声ガイドを聞きながら楽しめます。
僕は眺めを楽しんだり、写真を撮ったりしそこで1時間程過ごしました。

4. Din Tai Fung Dumpling Restaurant. Gyoza in English is dumpling.
If you want to taste very delicious Taiwanese dumplings, go to this restaurant.
If possible, go to the original restaurant to experience the history of it.
Tom Cruise has. He even made dumplings in the kitchen.
The photos in the restaurant prove he was there (also viewable with Google search).
This restaurant has grown into a worldwide chain. There’s even one in Shinjuku if you can’t get to Taipei soon.
I went to the original Din Tai Fung and shared a table with two other travelers – American pilots who fly cargo planes.
We had interesting conversations. I met them in the restaurant line while I wanted to get into the restaurant.
4・鼎泰豐(ディン タイ フォン)餃子レストラン　英語で餃子をダンプリングと言います。
もしとても美味しい餃子を食べたければこのレストランへ行ってください。もし可能であれば本店に行ってそのお店の歴史を味わって見てください。トム・クルーズもそのキッチンで餃子を作った事があります。
レストランの写真で彼が行った事を証明しています（Google検索で確認できますよ）。
このレストランは全世界に展開するチェーン店と成長しました。もし台北へ直ぐに行くことができなくても、b のスクールのある新宿に店舗があります。
私は、ディン タイ フォンの本店へ行きました。二人組の観光客（貨物機のアメリカン人パイロット）と相席をしました。
私たちは会話を楽しみました。彼らとはレストランに入る列で会いました。

5. Get a foot or full body massage by a blind person.
I think the best massages are given by people who can’t see, They know the human body by touch.
Furthermore, they have a lot of pride and work hard.
I had a blind massage in the shopping mall in Taipei Central Train Station.
A 1 hour full body massage was only about 2000 yen. A bargain!
5・視覚障害の方による足とフルボディーのマッサージを受けました。
盲目の方によるマッサージが一番気持ち良いと僕は思います。
彼らは、感触で人間の身体を熟知しています。
その上、彼らは誇りを持って一生懸命に働いています。
私は台北駅のショッピングモールでブラインドマッサージを受けました。1時間のフルボディーマッサージの料金はたったの2,000円。安いですよね。

6. Night markets. There are many night markets in Taipei.
They sell everything including clothes, crafts and foods. Try the stinky (kusaii) tofu if you have courage.
It is old tofu (like natto). I tried it. It smelled and tasted like a dirty sock, but I challenged myself to eat all of it. I did it!
Then, I drank a beer to celebrate. Ha, Ha. Ask the front desk manager at your hotel for the best night markets.
Two famous ones are The Raohe Market and The Shilin Market.
Some of these markets are open past midnight. Keep your hotel’s business card to show the taxi driver if you decide to stay out late. Taxis are quite cheap in Taipei, so don’t worry about the meter.
6．夜市。台北では沢山の夜市が開かれています。
洋服や工芸品、そして食べ物等あらゆるものが売られています。
もし勇気があればとても臭い豆腐を試してみてください。こちらの豆腐は昔からある豆腐です（納豆のような）私はお祝いの為ビールを飲みました。素晴らしい夜市にする為に、是非滞在するホテルのフロントデスクのマネージャーに聞いみてください。
ラオホーマーケットとシリンマーケットの2つが有名です。これらのマーケットは夜中中開かれています。
もし遅くまで出歩くのであれば、ホテルのビジネスカードを持参しタクシーの運転手さんに見せて下さい。　
台北のタクシー料金はとても安いため、心配しないで下さい。

These are some of my best experiences in Taipei, Taiwan.
You can do many other activities including enjoying Taiwanese hot springs (onsen) and seeing temples.
A great festival to see is the Taipei Lantern Festival (see YouTube) in January. I have not seen it, but I would love to someday.
So, if you want an interesting vacation which is close to Japan and inexpensive, go to Taipei. I believe that you will love it.
これらは、台湾台北でのとても素晴らしい僕の経験です。他のアクティビティーとしては台湾の温泉や寺院の参拝など他にも楽しめますよ。
11月には、とても素晴らしいお祭り、台北ランタンフェスティバル（YouTubeで観れます）があります。
僕はまだ観た事はありませんが、いつか観に行きたいです。
お休みを楽しみたいのなら、日本に近くて手頃に行ける台湾へ行って下さい。きっと気に入りますよ。
