So, it’s been a couple weeks since I set sail on the high seas and I’ve already experienced a few interesting places, and every day I’m learning more and more about my crew. I feel I now know almost everything about almost all of my crew members. For instance, my cook spends almost every minute of the day either preparing exotic dishes to die for, or telling the other crew members about his past life as a Sumo wrestler.
私が荒海を航行してから2、3週間が経った。沢山の面白い場所に行き、また日々それぞれの組員達について学んでいる。だから今ではほとんどの組員について大体すべてのことは知っている、と僕は思う。例えば私のコックは一日のうち大半の時間を素敵な料理をつくるために過ごしているか、もしくは力士として活躍していた頃について、他の組員に話しているんだ。

On the other hand, because I have such a diligent navigator, she spends almost all of her time with her eyes glued to sea. As a matter of fact, it’s been 3 or 4 days since she’s spoken a word to anyone, except for last night, when she asked me why I get to eat almost all of the meat at every meal.

一方で、わたしは勤勉な航海士を持っている。彼女の目は海に釘付けで、自身のほぼすべての時間を捧げている。実をいうと彼女は昨晩をのぞいて、ここ3日、4日は誰とも口を聞きかなかったくらいだ。昨晩彼女はなぜ毎回の食事で出されるほぼ全ての肉を、私ばかり食べているのかを尋ねたのさ。

Moving on… My musician. Don’t get me wrong, I love the guy, but because he’s been almost nowhere outside of Japan, he doesn’t know very much music. So he almost always plays Japanese songs. Also, this guy eats almost nothing at meal time, so he’s nothing but skin and bone!

話を続けて、私のミュージシャンについて。誤解しないでほしいけど・・・。私は彼が大好きだよ、だけど彼は日本を出たことがほとんど無いし、さらに音楽の知識も全く持ち合わせていないんだ。だから彼が歌うのは、ほとんどが日本語の歌ばかりなんだ。しかも彼はほとんど食事をとらないから、彼の身体は骨しかないんだ！

Just the other day, I added a shipwright. He’s quite the character. He’s almost always dancing and putting the rest of the crew members in high spirits. Almost everybody on the ship loves this guy because he’s almost always positive, even in the scariest of situations.
ある日、私は造船工をメンバーに加えた。彼はとても明るくてのんきな性格だ。彼はほぼ常にダンスをしていて、
船にいるほとんどの皆が彼を愛している。その理由は、どんなに大変な状況に遭遇しても彼は大体ポジティブでいるから！

Finally, my swordsman. Not unlike myself, he’s a very energetic guy, so he’s almost never sitting still, which is great, because we need him to be ready in case trouble suddenly comes our way. Because we have very similar personalities, the two of us are almost always together, plotting against our enemies and talking about the most delicious meat dishes we have eaten in the past.

最後に、剣士について。私と似ていて、彼はとてもエネルギッシュな紳士だ。だから彼はほとんど座らない。
それについては素晴らしい事だと考えている、その理由としては急なトラブルが起きた時にすぐ対応出来る彼を私達は必要だと感じているからだ。
私達は性格がとても似ているので、ほとんどいつも二人で一緒だし、敵を撃退する方法や過去に沢山の美味しい食事も食べた。

Up until now, that’s my crew. I’m sure I’ll add some really cool guys and gals to the team in due time. So stay tuned!
