I could go off on a rant about global warming but I am in no position to do so. From my mere observations of late I have noticed some peculiarities worth noting. Most of us living in or near Tokyo would have seen, if not felt, the flurry of ice one evening last week. Such frosty conditions gave me the impression that a long- drawn-out winter were to come. But no! This is March; the time of warmer climes and hopeful signs of spring.
Having returned to my hometown Melbourne two weeks ago I was again confronted by bizarre conditions. To set the record straight February is generally a very hot month with temperatures reaching 40 degrees. With this in mind I had packed my suitcase fully prepared for the scorching heat of an Aussie summer. To my dismay it was so chilly that there was a desperate need for more clothes. Rugged up in my sister`s borrowed layers, I would position myself away from the draughty doorways hoping to be offered another cup of tea to keep from shivering. To this day I have been baffled by the sense of ‘warming’ currently bandied about!
Calra,
