I am thoroughly enjoying my first cherry blossom season here in Japan.
The trees have been so beautiful.
私は、日本で初めての桜の季節をとっても楽しんでいます。

I just got back from the USA not too long ago. It was good to see friends
and family, however, I missed Japan very much. It is good to be home.
私はつい最近アメリカから戻ってきたの。
友達や家族に会えて嬉しかったけど、日本がとても恋しかったわ。
だから戻ってこれて嬉しい！

I just had my first Easter holiday here and besides the holiday being Christian related,
I have been wondering how the Easter bunny and egg hunting came about.
Easter is a widely celebrated holiday among many different countries.
It is always celebrated on a Sunday in the spring.
This is because the Sunday represented is the one Christians celebrate
Christ’s return to heaven after his death the previous Friday.
今回、初めて日本でイースターホリデーを過ごしたの。そして、この休日はキリスト教と
関連づけられていて、イースター・バニーやエッグ・ハントがどのように生じたのかを考えたわ。
イースターは、多くの国々で広く祝われる有名な休日よ。
いつも春のある日曜日に祝われるのよ。
これは1人のキリスト教徒が、金曜日の死後、キリストの天国への帰りを祝った日が
日曜日と表されているからなの。
I can remember waking up as a little girl on Easter morning to find
colorful or white baskets filled with a chocolate bunny, candies and maybe
a stuffed bunny. It was always very exciting.
小さい頃、イースターの朝に、ウサギ型のチョコレート、キャンディ、ウサギのぬいぐるみで
一杯になったカラフルか白のかごを見つけるために目覚めたことを覚えているわ。
それはとっても楽しかったの！
Later in the day there were always Easter egg hunts and more candy to be found.
One of my favorite things to do were to dye hard boiled eggs different color and decorate them
with crayon, stickers and any things else we could think of.
As an adult, I have hidden these eggs outdoors as well as colorful plastic ones filled　with candies.
Watching the very young children searching for them has always been very entertaining.
The look of joy on their little faces when they find one and put it in their very own hunting basket is priceless.
その日のうちに、いつもイースター・エッグ・ハントがあって、もっと沢山のキャンディを見つけられたの。
私の好きなことの一つは固ゆで卵を色々な色で染めて、クレヨン、ステッカー、
私たちが考えられたどんなものでも飾ってしまうことだったの。
大人になってからは、キャンディで一杯になった袋と一緒に、卵を外に隠したわ。
小さい子供達がそれを探しているのを見ることがとっても楽しかったの。
彼らが1つを見つけて、彼らのハンティング・バスケットに入れる時の
喜んだ顔を見ることはとても貴重なものだったわ。
On Easter many people also dress up in white or pastel colors.
Women and　young girls especially like to wear frilly dresses and hats with wide brims.
イースターでは、多くの人々が白かパステル・カラーで着飾るのよ。
女性や少女は、フリルの付いた服と、広い縁の帽子をかぶるのが特に好きなの。
How did the Easter bunny come about? When spring is coming, many people
think of the Easter bunny and Easter eggs although very few people know how
the Easter bunny originated. The Easter bunny is associated with fertility
because of how quickly rabbits reproduce.
イースター・バニーはどのように生じたのかしら？
ほんのわずかな人々はイースター・バニーがどのように由来したかを知っているけど、
春がやってくると、沢山の人々はイースター・バニーとイースター・エッグについて考えるのよ。
ウサギはとても速く子供を生むので、イースター・バニーは“繁殖”と関連しているの。
The Easter bunny is a mythical creature.
In legends, this creature would deliver baskets filled with colorful eggs, candies and
toys to the homes of children on the night before Easter.
A lot of the time the Easter bunny would hide the baskets for the children to find,
however, not all werehidden. The baskets were sometimes placed in a designated
place　for the　children to find the next morning. The baskets can be very simple
and cost just a few dollars. Some people make the baskets quite elaborate with
chocolates that can be quite expensive.
The Easter bunny is commonly compared to Santa Clause because of the delivery
of the basket the night before the holiday to children.
イースター・バニーは架空の動物よ。
伝説でこの生物は、復活祭の前夜に、カラフルな卵やキャンディ、
おもちゃでいっぱいのかごを子供の家に届けていました。
長い間、イースター・バニーは子供達が見つけるためにかごに隠されていましたが、
全てが隠されていたわけではないの。かごは時々、翌朝、子供達が見つけるために
指定された場所に置かれたわ。かごはとても簡単で、わずか数ドルしかかからないの。
中には高価なチョコレートで入念にかごを作る人もいるのよ。
イースター・バニーは休日の前夜にかごでお届けものをするから、よくサンタクロースと比較されるわ。
Another legend of the Easter bunny goes back to the Anglo-Saxon goddess
named Eostre. Eostre was always seen with her pet rabbit.
This rabbit ironically is supposedly the one that laid the first colored and even
golden eggs. Rabbits tend to hide their nests in a secluded area
thus where the hiding of the baskets (simulating the nests) and the eggs come from.
イースター・バニーに関する別の伝説はエオストレというアングロサクソンの女神に戻るわ。
エオストレはいつも彼女のペットのウサギと共にしていました。
このウサギは、皮肉なことに、最初の有色の、そして金色の卵を産んだとされているわ。
ウサギは、人目につかない場所に彼らの巣を隠す傾向があるの。

The Easter bunny was first mentioned in German writings in the 1600’s.
The first edible Easter bunnies were made in the early 1800’s and were made
of pastry and sugar.

Eggs like rabbits are symbols of fertility .
Birds lay eggs and rabbits give birth to large litters in the spring
so in conclusion, the Easter bunny symbolizes new life.
ウサギのような卵は多産の象徴よ。
鳥は卵を産み、ウサギは沢山の子供を春に産むので、
結論として、イースター・バニーは新しい命を象徴しているのよ。
I am looking forward to giving birth to my first child, a boy in about 10 weeks.
I am already thinking about dying and decorating Easter eggs with
him as well as decorating our family’s Christmas trees.
