April 1st is April Fool’s Day, a day where people tell jokes, play pranks and practical jokes on each other.
April Fool’s Day is celebrated around the world in North America, many European countries and some Asian countries too. Is there anything similar in Japan?
4月1日はエイプリルフールと呼ばれ、みんなでジョークやいたずらをし合う日です。
エイプリルフールは北米や多くのヨーロッパ諸国、そしてアジアの一部の国など世界中が騒ぐ日なの。日本はどうかしら？

This year, on April Fool’s Day, I went to see an English stand-up comedy show in Shibuya.
A very popular comedian named Atsuko Okatsuka was going to perform!
Atsuko is an American comedian who has Japanese and Taiwanese parents.
今年のエイプリルフールは英語のスタンダップコメディを観に渋谷に行ったの。
大人気コメディアンのアツコ・オカツカ（岡塚敦子）さんが出演する予定だったのよ！
アツコさんは日本人と台湾人の両親を持つアメリカのコメディアンなの。

I was so excited to see her because I really like her comedy style. I managed to buy tickets before they sold out.
She was the headliner of the show so many talented people from different countries performed before her.
Right before her performance, there was a special guest performance by Yuriyan Retriever!
彼女のコメディスタイルが大好きで、ショーを観るのをめちゃくちゃ楽しみにしていたの。売り切れる前になんとかチケットを買ったわ。
ショーのヘッドライナー（主役）の彼女の前に色々な国のすごい人達がパフォーマンスしました。
直前には、特別ゲストとしてゆりやんレトリィバァさんが出たのよ！

I had never heard of Yuriyan before this show but now I know that she’s quite popular among Japanese people.
She was wearing a really colorful and unique outfit.
She was wearing a purple bodysuit on top of mint green pants and a white full sleeves shirt.
Her set used props and was funny and creative. I really liked it!
ショーを観るまで私はゆりやんのことを知らなかったけど、日本でとっても有名なのよね。
彼女は超カラフルで奇抜な衣装を着ていたわ。
ミントグリーンのパンツの上にパープルのボディスーツを履いて白の長袖シャツを合わせていました。
小道具を使ったショーはすごく笑えて他にはない感じだった。本当に面白かった！

Finally, Atsuko came on the stage and performed for almost an hour.
She was wearing a yellow and black patterned jumpsuit and a necklace that was shaped like a croissant.
She was so hilarious! I couldn’t stop laughing.
During her set, she made a joke about how she and her dad have the same body type.
Later, she even brought her dad on stage so we could see it for ourselves. It was a cute and funny moment!
最後に、アツコさんがステージに登場し、1時間近くパフォーマンスしたの。
黄色と黒の模様のジャンプスーツを着て、クロワッサンの形をしたネックレスをしていたわ。
彼女は本当に最高だった！もう笑いが止まらなかったわ。
アツコさんと彼女の父親の体型が同じだってことで笑わせていたの。
最後には実際に父親をステージに上げて、観客に本当かどうかを確認させたのよ。大爆笑だったわ！

Her husband was in the audience too and filmed the whole show.
At the end of the show, Atsuko and Yuriyan danced on stage while her husband filmed it. It was so much fun to watch!
I had a great time and really hope that she will come back to Japan soon and perform again!
アツコさんのご主人も観客にまじってショーを撮影していました。
ショーの最後には彼が撮影しているとアツコさんとゆりやんさんは踊り出したの。面白すぎました！
すごく楽しかったからまたすぐに日本でパフォーマンスして欲しいわ！
