For The Love of Japan, Snow and K-pop by Ron

皆さん、こんにちは！新しくｂのレッスンパートナーになりましたロンです。

I was born and raised in the Philippines though most people would say that I don’t look like a Filipino at all,
especially living here in Japan, most people would mistake me for a Japanese.
私は生まれも育ちもフィリピンですが、みんなフィリピン人っぽくない見た目と言われます。
特に日本に住んでいると、ほとんどの人に日本人と間違われます。

Philippines is very hot all year long, even during the rainy and typhoon seasons.
Filipinos are very famous for being hospitable and being good in music.
My friends from other countries think all Filipinos are good in singing and can play the guitar
(Which is not true at all, though I can actually do both so maybe they do have a point).
One of the things that Filipinos love is celebrating Christmas.
We celebrate Christmas starting from September (we call it the ber-months – SeptemBER, OctoBER, NovemBER and DecemBER) and end it on the Three Kings Day (January 6), but some people would not take down their Christmas tree until February.
フィリピンは雨季や台風のシーズンでも関係なく、一年中とても暑いです。
人々はホスピタリティに溢れ、音楽好きで有名です。
他の国出身の友達は、全てのフィリピン人が歌が上手でギターを弾けると思っています。
（確かに私はどちらも出来るけど、全員という訳ではないわね）
そして、フィリピンの人々が好きなことのひとつは、クリスマスをお祝いするです。
9月に始まってThree Kings Dayの1月6日までお祝いは続きます。
（私達はSeptemBER, OctoBER, NovemBER and DecemBERと月の呼び名がberで終わるので、この時期をthe ber-monthsと呼んでいます）
でもね、なかに2月までツリーを飾る人もいるんですよ。

I lived in Singapore before I came to Japan.
Singapore is a wonderful country but also a hot one like the Philippines, and very small, which is why it’s called a-dot-on-the-map.
You can travel Singapore from one end to the other in around 1 and a half hours by train.
They also have only 5 train lines (when I was living there, I’m not sure if now they have more).
A lot of people travel by bus since it’s more convenient and accessible.
They have the double-decker buses which is very similar to the famous London buses.
I really loved riding those and would usually sit at the second floor, right in front to get the best view.
日本に来る前は、シンガポールに住んでいました。
シンガポールは素晴らしい国ですが、フィリピンのように暑く、地図上のドット（点）と呼ばれる程、とても小さいです。
シンガポールの端から端まで、電車で一時間半で行けちゃいますよ。
電車は5つの路線だけです。（私が住んでいた時の話しなので、今は違うかも知れません）
多くの人々はより便利でアクセスが良いバスで旅します。
ロンドンで有名な2階建てのバスも、シンガポールでも走っています。
バスの2階に座って、目の前で最高の景色を観るのが大好きでした。

I came to Japan 6 years ago, but before that I’ve come here for vacations and really loved it.
I always say that the thing I love most in Japan is it’s safety.
It’s one of the safest countries as far as I know.
I really like the culture as well, like J-pop, anime, manga, J-dramas, and of course the food.
日本には6年前に来たのですが、その前にバケーションで来たことがあり、その時からとっても気に入っていました。
日本を好きな理由の一番は安全だからです。
私の知っている中で最も平和な国のひとつです。
日本文化も大好きで、J-popやアニメ、漫画、ドラマ、もちろん日本食も大好きです。

One of things that I also love in Japan is the changing of seasons.
Since the Philippines and Singapore only has summer and rainy seasons, I was very fascinated when I experienced the other seasons like Spring, Autumn and Winter.
I fell in love with winter the most and it is now my favorite season.
During my first winter, Japan had a very strong snowstorm (February of 2014).
Most people were frustrated and flabbergasted, especially because almost all the train lines stopped and had no service due to the heavy snow.
I think I might have been the only one who was so happy, that I was even singing gleefully while walking under the falling snow.
For somebody who haven’t seen snow before, it was just truly magical for me.
And I’ve been in love with it ever since.
All my friends know this, that whenever it would snow (which is very rare in Tokyo and Kanagawa), they would send me a message and call me because they said I would be the first one that they would think of whenever it snows.
日本の四季もとても好きです。
フィリピンもシンガポールも夏と雨季しかなくて、初めて春や秋、冬を体験した時は心奪われてしまいました。
冬は特別に大好きでお気に入りの季節です。日本で過ごした最初の冬、2014年2月にはとても強い吹雪がありました。
人々は大雪で電車が止まったりしたので、いらだって呆然としていました。
そのなかで歌ったり、喜んで雪の中を歩いていたのはきっと私だけだと思います。
今までに雪を観たこと無い、私のようなものには、本当に魔法のようでした。
友人は皆、東京や神奈川に珍しく雪が降る時はメッセージや電話してくれます。雪といえば私！と思い出してくれるそうです。

One of the things that I also love is K-pop.
I’ve been a fan of SHINee since their debut days which is around 10 years ago.
And recently, I also like BTS and Seventeen very much.
When I went to Seoul, South Korea for the first time I went to visit the different K-pop agencies just for the experience and maybe hoping to catch a glimpse of one of my favorite artists.
Unfortunately, I didn’t see anyone but it was still so much fun.
K-POPも大好きです。
SHINeeというグループのデビューから10年以上ファンです。
最近はBTSとSeventeenも大好きです。
初めてソウルに行った時、K-popのいくつかの事務所に行きました。
あわよくばお気に入りのアーティストを見たかったのですが、残念ながら誰にも会うことは出来ませんでした。それでもとても楽しかったです。
